We’re excited to share an important update that will make your teaching experience more streamlined and aligned with current health education requirements.

What’s Changed?

Beginning August 1, 2025, the Grades 7–8 and 9–12 HIV Units will be  fully integrated into the core curriculum licenses for their respective grade levels. This update simplifies access, reduces the need for separate licenses, and ensures every unit aligns with Michigan’s current HIV education standards.

What’s New?

The HIV units have been carefully revised and condensed to include only the lessons required to meet Michigan's HIV and STI education mandates. Content that falls outside the scope of HIV/STI prevention has been removed, making lessons more focused, and easier to implement.

Revised HIV Curriculum Overview

Grades 7–8: HIV and Other STIs Unit

  • Lesson 1: The 4-1-1 on HIV and AIDS
  • Lesson 2: HIV and Other STIs – Evaluating Exposures
  • Lesson 3: Finding Help and Information

Grades 9–12: HIV and Other STIs Unit

  • Lesson 1: Let's Hear the Facts
  • Lesson 2: More About STIs
  • Lesson 3: The Stakes Are High
  • Lesson 4: Know the Risks!
  • Lesson 5: Examining Influences, Including the Law
  • Lesson 6: Testing: Who, Why and How

No Action Needed
If you currently hold an active Grades 7–8 or 9–12 curriculum license, your MMH platform account will be automatically updated on August 1, 2025, to include the new HIV and Other STIs Unit — at no additional cost.
